On behalf of the Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) a part of the City University of New York, I am writing to invite you or representative of your organization to join the Business Management Department Advisory Council.

The Business Management Department at BMCC has six majors with 3500 students. Over 60% of our students are first generation college students, and 80% are students of color.

Business Department Advisory Council members are appointed to a two-year term and meet twice a year. The Advisory Council is composed of members who represent business sectors our students are seeking a degree. We are recruiting advisory council members from a variety of industries, including finance, banking, marketing, management, public and nonprofit organizations, Hotel and tourism, insurance, real-estate, and risk management. Advisory Council members will be called upon to bring their expertise, experience, interest in education, and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion to recommend and advise us on a range of issues, including curriculum development, mentorship opportunities, and student internships and placement in this new world of work.

A Council member would have the opportunity to:

• Provide guidance and support to the college in its efforts to prepare students for successful careers in business.
• Share your expertise and experience with students and faculty.
• Help to shape the future of the Business department.
• Network with other business leaders.
• Make a difference in the lives of students.

The Council meets two times per year, and members are expected to commit to serving on the council for a two-year term. Our first meeting would be scheduled for November 15, 2023 from 8 – 10 AM at BMCC’s Fiterman Hall at 245 Greenwich Street at the intersection of Park Place and Greenwich Street on the 13^th floor.

I believe expertise and experience of a representative of your organization would be a valuable asset to the BMCC Business Department Advisory Council.
